Aberdeen Proving Ground SCRA
|
Happy Halloween. Last week we had our traditional three-club Signal Corps Regimental Association golf outing here at Aberdeen Proving Ground's golf course (Ruggles). This community has held the event for years up at Ft Monmouth and now that we've transitioned to APG, we've kept the tradition alive down here. The weather was quite rainy all morning but the spirits were kept alive and well.
Our great chef, the award winning Chris Hall, began barbecuing our pig in the early hours of the morning. This is a great guy who has incredible talent. He is a part of the Army team having been a Soldier (96B Intelligence Analyst), and a part of the Aberdeen Proving Ground MWR family with his wife Teri Hall being the catering manager for the installation. What a great team.
While the weather continued to be rainy as we approached our 11:00AM tee time, the spirits remained high.

As we got reacquainted with many old and new friends.some of course kept us laughing with their costumes.

That's Glenda the good witch on her blackberry!

As the rain continued on and off, those of us on the course were greeted by many lovely ones bearing gifts of warm spirits.

And we even played some golf too. Leave it up to an NCO to figure it out that it was easier to hit this 'putter' from the left side.and yes.he sank the 20 foot up hill, breaking to the left putt, wait for it, for birdie!!

And Val hit this up hill 15 foot putt for a birdie as well!!

Afterwards, we all had a great time eating our superb meal, laughing over our great.and not so great achievements, and looking forward to next year.

Some of you couldn't make it this year. We know that schedules are packed and we know that some of you are deployed away from home. We hope that next year will find us all in a place that we'll be able to take some time out and enjoy a great event
To Rick Bond and the staff at Ruggles, thank you so much as your outside-of-the-box thinking really made this event special. You would have been proud of Pam, Duane, Dave, Courtney, and the whole Ruggles team. They made what could have been a real lousy rainy day, one that was a blast!
To Chris Hall, the pig was incredible. Any time you need a recommendation, let us know. Thank you also to your daughter who came out in the wee hours of the morning to help.
To all the volunteers that make this happen.Kit, Sheryl, Esther, Darla, Sheri(?), .I know I'm forgetting some so please forgive me.but we couldn't do this without you.
Thank you to all of our great corporate sponsors. It goes without saying that we could do things like this without your tremendous generosity.
Bottom line, thank you to everyone that was involved in keeping this tradition alive. Remember, if you ever think that you're having a bad day, just think, you could be this guy

HAPPY HALLOWEEN !!!
